About the Designers
SS Designs:
Sue Stark (ssdesigns) is becoming quite well know amongst discerning doll collectors. As a young girl, as she stitched away many a summer morning, she dreamed of one day creating "real clothing in miniature" - doll clothing reflecting the quality and attention to detail upon which her fashion philosophy is founded.
Working in conjunction with a Twin Cities doll shop, one of her creations - a lovely replica of the host's wedding ensemble - was featured on HGTV's Collectible Treasures program.
Sue's ensembles are indeed treasures to all who have the opportunity to own one or more of her precious creations.
Ulla's Designs:
Ulla is a professional tailor who was fortunate enough for further education in Europe specializing in tailoring, painting and designing fabrics. All her patterns are designs drawn by her for the perfect fit. The fabrics used are of the finest quality, and her designs are mostly one-of-a-kind. All inside seams are finished.
Ulla is also most fortunate to have her mom in Finland knit the beautiful sweater sets that are offered with some of the outfits. The yarns she uses are beautiful fibers from Finland. She has been knitting for many years, but most recently for Ann Estelle and Betsy, who were sent to her about 2 years ago for Mother's Day by Ulla. Her workmanship is extraordinary!
Once you see and touch 'Ulla's Designs', it is easy to see why they are so special.
Scotti's Fancis:
Linda Schuck, the designer of Scotti's Fancis, is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She designed children's apparel for over 30 years. Now she creates her magic for your dolls!
BooBearwear-Boutique:
Connie and her mom, Ann, comprise the design team at this wonderful boutique. Everything Connie learned about the world of stitching, she learned from her mom. Ann has been knitting and sewing for over 50 years, and Connie has been involved in the needlearts since she was a little girl.
The designs at BooBearwear-Boutique are made with love and care, with each ensemble having a bit of hand stitching done for that special personal touch.
by Suzanne:
Suzanne was one of those more fortunate little girls who learned the art of sewing and crocheting from her grandmother. She did quite a bit of sewing for her dolls while growing up, and while in college made some beautiful ensembles for herself. The biggest project ever presented her was the design and stitching of her daughter's wedding gown. The finished gown was quite stunning, made with handmake French imported lace with 5280 aurora borealis and pearls handstitched on the lace.
Since then stitching and embroidery has been a part of her life, and when Robert Tonner came along with his beautiful dolls, she knew she wanted to change her direction somewhat and stitch for these beautiful dolls.
Nana B:
Nana B has been knitting for many many years. At one time she had her own knit shop and taught knitting classes. She is in her 80s and just loves to create beautiful knitted one-of-a-kind sweater sets for the Ann Estelle dolls. She is an amazing lady and most creative!
Wee Fashions by Mary Adams:
Mary Adams learned to sew as a child in the 50's at her mother's knee. Her mother had learned the art of sewing from her mother and Mary in turn learned from her mother. Mary's mom bought her a child-sized hand-cranked Singer sewing machine and she remembers the fun she had making tiny dresses for her Ginny dolls. Sewing is Mary's hobby and she takes great pleasure in designing and sewing the little dresses. Mary is indeed a gifted seamstress!
Lawlee O’Connor
Lawlee has been in the doll business for 30 years, making and selling porcelain dolls, as well as designing a line of cloth dolls. Now, making clothes for the Kish dolls has her complete attention. She is the mother of 5 daughters, and has always loved to design and make clothes for them and their dolls. Lawlee learned the skill from her mother, who was a professional tailor, but also designed clothes for dolls, particularly the ‘Toni’ doll. Lawlee specializes in embroidery and fine hand finishing, and uses only the finest materials. Recently, one of her outfits for Riley won first place in the ‘ensembles’ division at the Kish fashion luncheon at IDEX. Of course, as you can see, Lawlee loves designing for little Riley!
